Safe Sport - Badminton BC Other Safe Sport Policies
Protector Eyewear
All players actively participating in Badminton activities and BC sanctioned competitions are highly recommended to wear protective eyewear, including googles worn over top of prescription glasses, always meeting the ASTM F803 standards while they are on the court. This includes warm up, competitions and match play in schools, post-secondary insitutions, recreation and community centers, private clubs, not-for-profit clubs and for-profit clubs.
*Note* Any clubs, facility, or venue with rules regarding mandatory eyewear supersedes Badminton BC's recommendation.
Injury Prevention and Management
While Badminton is considered as one of the safer sport, incidents do occured. That is why In all the Badminton BC sanctioned competitions, hosting clubs are required to have a First Aid Kit on-site. Hosting Clubs will also need to identify if they have extra medical services that they are providing or have access to for their event. Below is a chart to see what kind of medical services are expected at the different types of competitions.

Communicable Disease Prevention Plan
As COVID-19 vaccinations have become widely available to BC residents, the overall risk of COVID-19 transmission and serious consequences has diminished. However, there are still variants of the virus circulating just like the other communicable diseases. Badminton BC have developed the Communicable Disease Prevention Guidelines to help our membership clubs in developing their own plan. You can find more information in here
Coach Accreditation
To ensure the safety for our young athlete, this applies to all coaches that may be coaching, or assisting a head coach, at a Junior A, Junior B, U23 and/or SeniorOpen series and/or provincial championship competition. They will need to go through this coach accredition process every year. For full accreditation coaching eligiblity requirements, please go to here: https://www.badmintonbc.com/page/37010/Coach-Accreditation-Eligibility
Badminton BC Referees and Umpires will be ensuring only those coaches with the current accreditation badges able to access the field of play.
