Call for 2017 Western Canada Team Championship Coaches

The 2017 Western Canadian Team Championship brings the together the Western provincial and territorial badminton organizations together annually in a Team Championship.  It is a milestone in any player or coach’s career along the performance pathway.  New in 2017 will be the addition of the U19 age category.  Badminton BC will support this program with two (2)) coaches and a team of up to 18 athletes (6-U15s/6-U17s/ 6-U19s/ girls & boys), and an ahletic therapist. This is the call for coaches.

2017 WCTC COACHING POSITIONS OPPORTUNITY

Event: 2017 Western Canadian Team Championship (WCTC)

Positions Available: Two (2) Coaching Positions (a minimum 1 must be female)

Project Duration:  December 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017

Event Date: January 13-15, 2017   

Event Location:  Riverside Club, Saskatoon SK

BACKGROUND

The 2017 Western Canadian Team Championship brings the together the Western provincial and territorial badminton organizations together annually in a Team Championship.  It is a milestone in any player or coach’s career along the performance pathway.  New in 2017 will be the addition of the U19 age category.  Badminton BC will support this program with two (2)) coaches and a team of up to 18 athletes (6-U15s/6-U17s/ 6-U19s/ girls & boys), and an athletic therapist.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • To prepare Team BC to compete at the 2017 Western Canadian Team Championship
  • To plan and conduct a Selection Camp, December 20-22, 2016, with the objective of nominating athletes for selection to the Team.
  • To participate in a min. of 3 team practices prior to the event.
  • To coach Team BC at the event from January 12-15, 2017   

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified NCCP Level 2 or NCCP Competition Introduction Provincial Coach TRAINED.
  • Demonstrated ability coaching and managing athletes participating in high performance programs; excellent verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attend the 3-day Selection Camp, December 19-22 2016, a minimum of 3 team practices prior to leaving, and the 2017 Western Canadian Team Championships from January 12-15, 2017, in its entirety.
  • Member in good standing of Badminton BC and holding an Associate membership for the 2016-2017 season and agree to submit to a Criminal Records Check review.

OTHER

  • There is a honorarium supporting this position.  Approved eligible expenses for team preparation and travel to participate at the 2017 WCTC will be reimbursed.
  • These positions will each have a specific job description that is reflective of the program outcomes.
