SURREY, BC – Upon completing a comprehensive executive search, the Badminton BC Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Nancy Thompson will be joining the team of professional staff in the role of Executive Director.
Nancy has worked almost exclusively in the not for profit world for all of her career as consultant and senior director. She understands working with Boards, volunteers, members, government, sponsors and other key stakeholders. She has worked in the sport system at varying times in her career.
She is a racquets enthusiastic playing badminton, squash and tennis. She competed at the provincial level and played many national badminton championships as both a junior and adult. She also coached badminton in her youth.

Henry Wong, President of Badminton BC states, “The hiring of our new Executive Director was a collaborative effort with participation from all our board members. We also invited an external member to join us at the interviews to ensure that the process was transparent and open. The board is very excited to have Nancy Thompson join us as our new Executive Director. We hope that the membership will provide their generous support to Nancy in her new role with us at Badminton BC.”
In the role of Executive Director, Nancy will be working part time with Badminton BC – 3 days a week. The objective is to develop a changed leadership model working to enhance the expertise and reach of the organization thereby better serving the members and strengthening the organization and the sport of badminton in BC. Nancy also is working part time with Squash BC which provides a unique opportunity to explore synergies and efficiencies where appropriate for both organizations.
“I'm very much looking forward to rejoining the badminton community and working collaboratively to continue to grow and strengthen the sport of badminton in BC,” says Nancy.
